Before Morehouse College takes on Winston-Salem State University in the 2012 Cleveland Classic HBCU football game, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission is proud to announce that Praisefest 6: Images of Excellence, will kick off the Cleveland Classic weekend of events. In partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers, this annual non-denominational praise and worship service will take place at Quicken Loans Arena on Friday, September 14th at 6:00 p.m. Immediately following Praisefest, those in attendance will be treated to the Cleveland Classic Greek Step Show, presented by the United States Marine Corps.

With thousands of believers, more than 200 houses of worship and various community leaders, Praisefest unites the city’s faith-based community to cooperatively sound the clarion call to address social ills and inspire faithful service in daily life. The 2012 event continues as a non-denominational, multicultural praise, prayer and worship service.
Following the service, nationally recognized Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) fraternities and sororities will face off in a competition that will have the whole house on their feet! The United States Marine Corps presents the Cleveland Classic Greek Step Show will celebrate the unique art of stepping as the “Divine Nine” showcase their creative talents and lay it on the line to be named the 2nd Annual Cleveland Classic Greek Step Show Champion. “We’re very excited to welcome Praisefest 6 as part of the second annual Cleveland Classic weekend,” said David Gilbert, President and CEO of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. “Bringing the community together to celebrate faith and showcase incredible young talent is something that we look forward to making a Classic tradition.”
The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission will kick off the second annual Cleveland Classic HBCU football game, presented by McDonald’s, where Morehouse College will battle Winston-Salem State University on Saturday, September 15th at 12:00 p.m. at Cleveland Browns Stadium. More than just a tradition, The Cleveland Classic is an entire weekend of dynamic activities and interactive events for fan of all ages to celebrate premier historically black universities.
